Chase Doe, an orphan found in the outside world, makes his home in the Mystical Federation-a bastion of wizards right in the heart of America. Following a promotion to Deputy Commissioner of the Vigilum-the wizarding worlds intelligence and law enforcement bureau-Chase finds himself in the center of controversy. There are those in the magical world who are unhappy of the inclusive policies under the direction of the current Chancellor. That discontent spills into the streets, bringing riots and violence. Once that violence overflows into the normalis-non-magical folks-world the forty year peace pact with the United States and the safety of the Federation is in peril.
