Publisher's Synopsis
Acute cerebral ischemia is one of the most challenging issues of medicine at the turn of this millennium. While tremendous advances have been made on the understanding of the genesis, pathophysiology and epidemiology of stroke, an appropriate drug to treat cerebral ischemia in human beings is still missing. Experimental and clinical aspects of acute cerebral ischemia were updated at an international symposium and are presented here in this supplement issue of "Cerebrovascular Diseases", a journal dealing with all aspects of stroke and cerebrovascular diseases.
