Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Census of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 1895, Vol. 1: Population and Social Statistics
Each separate section of the work, as fast as completed, is issued in preliminary pamphlet form, intended mainly for the press, in order that the information may reach the public at the earliest possible moment. In accordance with this plan, the matter contained in the five Parts comprising the present volume, has been published seriatim, at dates much earlier than would have been possible under the plan formerly followed of issuing practically nothing until the bound volumes were ready. A full statement of the organization and methods of the Census will be given in the final volume, and for that reason will not be other wise referred to here.
