Publisher's Synopsis
This publication focuses on the proceedings of the 18th Symposium of the Collegium Internationale Allergologicum (CIA). Original papers, reviews and abstracts at the forefront of research on the cellular and mediator mechanisms of allergic disorders were presented. Topics include the control of intracellular mechanisms of mediator secreting cells, the relationship of inflammatory cells to neural mechanisms and the role of cytokines as effectors of the cellular and humoral allergic response. It is hoped that researchers and clinicians in the fields of allergology, immunology and pharmacology will benefit from these insights into the allergic processes responsible for such common and disabling diseases as asthma and eczema.
