Publisher's Synopsis
The contributors open up a wide range of procedures and functions for poetic and artistic references to Paul Celan. They address different variants of continuation, appropriation and reminiscence, the affirmative and approvingly critical re-use of images and linguistic-stylistic idiosyncrasies of Celans poems, poetic programs and poetry ideals that have become quotations. The focus is on productivity, which these references for the dynamics of tradition building in different media. Here it becomes clear how questions about aesthetic validity and the moral responsibility of art can be negotiated via the Celan references as well as how poetic and legitimate discourses can be developed.
