Excerpt from Catalogue of the Periodical Publications in the Library of the Royal Society of London
The society index shows what publications of a particular Society are in the Library. The number after each entry refers to the corresponding number in the main part of the Catalogue. An arrow after the number signifies that the Library set of the periodical is In progress This index includes various Government Departments, Universities, Colleges, and similar public bodies. In order to facilitate reference a duplicate entry has been made under the name of the town in which the head-quarters of each Society are situated.
In the compilation of this catalogue much valuable information has been obtained from the 'british Museum Catalogue of Printed Books', sections 'academies' and 'periodical Publications'. The 'catalogue of Scientific and Technical Periodicals' by H. C. Bolton, published by the Smithsonian Institution, has also been of. Very great assistance.
