Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Catalogue of the Marsupialia and Monotremata: Collection of the British Museum (Natural History)
However, the collection grew apace like that of the other Mam malia; no opportunity was lost of making such additions as were required to complete the series, so that the number of specimens appears now, after the lapse of some forty years, to be about trebled. Especially in the course of the last three years, during which the preparation of this volume has been in progress, the collection has received important additions through the efforts of the author, who, besides, has personally visited most of the European Museums with the object of examining types and other important specimens.
