Excerpt from Catalogue of the Marine Algæ of the West Indian Region
The localities are cited in the order determined by the direction of the equatorial current and the Gulf Stream. The southern forms come first, and after them the others down-stream, as it were, to Bermuda. At the end I shall deal fully with the relationships of this marine ?ora. Meanwhile I must remark that this list, large as it is, may be extended. Private and other collections doubtless exist containing forms beyond those I have cited, and the present enumeration will have served its purpose if it lead to its own extension.
