Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Catalogue of the Greek and Roman Lamps in the British Museum
The present Catalogue deals with the collections of Greek and Roman Lamps in the British Museum. Those of a distinctively Christian character. Catalogued in Mr. O. M. Dalton's Catalogue of C/zristimz Antiquities, are omitted. On the other hand the Greek and Roman lamps in the Department of Egyptian and Assyrian Antiquities, and those which are preserved in the British Department, as having been found in Britain, have been included. The greater part of the collection is naturally in the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities.
