Publisher's Synopsis
This is a text covering the Act and regulations and including case law and studies of good practice based on cases arising from the Community Charge Tribunal. The relevant parts of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 are reproduced section by section together with all the regulations. Commentary on each section of the Act and these supporting regulations is added by CIPFA. The first set of case studies looks at: the community charge registration officer, his duties and resources; notification of entry in the register; the canvass operation; and community charge exemptions.;There will be two updates each year which will pick up on new regulation and case law and will extend the range of the case studies.;It is aimed at community charge registration officers in local authorities, the Audit Commission and district auditors, consultants in management and accountancy to local government, and the Rating and Valuation Association.
