Prostate Cancer Treatment The prostate is a glandular organ present only in men. It measures about 3cm long and lies at the base of the bladder in front of the rectum. Cancer develops when normal cells undergo a transformation in which they grow and multiply without normal controls. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men after lung cancer. The system is minimally invasive and much quicker recovery time is achieved. Using the Da Vinci surgical system, the surgeon operates while seated comfortably at a computer console viewing a 3-D image of the surgical field. The surgeon manipulates and guides the system. Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy is also performed for prostate cancer. The surgeon remove the entire prostate through camera guided key hole incision made on the abdomen
