Both Edgar the Eagle and Carruthers have perfected their telepathic skills, transmitting and receiving, live moving images, one to another.The boys are faced with a trio of unscrupulous characters who have discovered a way of stealing gold Krugerrand coins from the State Mint. The coins are worth many millions of dollars. As these events unfold, a certain Mr Franklin C. Riley, the owner of a boutique hotel chain, called, The Frason Boutique Hotel Group appears on the scene. He wants to find out who is torching his hotels. He has heard of Carruthers and his group's unusual investigative abilities, so he heads to Carruthers house to see if the boys might be able to solve the mystery for him. As Mr Riley meets Carruthers and his mother Maureen, they unearth a staggering bolt from the blue. Meantime, apart from the emotional impact this meeting has on both Carruthers and his mother, another one of Franklin Riley's hotels, burns down.
