Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Buildings Fund, Preliminary List of Contributors
IN 1892, when the Institute of Chemistry took over the remainder of the lease of 30, Bloomsbury Square, and erected laboratories, there was every prospect that it would be able to effect a renewal. The proposed widening of Southampton Row by the London County Council will, however, involve the reconstruction of the block of buildings which includes the Institute's present premises. The Council of the Institute have been obliged, therefore, to give careful consideration to proposals for securing new laboratories and administrative offices.
The lease expires in December, 1914, and as the Council will require a considerable sum to enable them to secure suitable premises in a convenient locality and to maintain the affairs of the Institute on a sound basis, an appeal has been made to the Fellows and Associates for donations to a Buildings Fund.
