The results of two interesting surveys in Rhode Island by members of the Brown staff were published during the year. One is An Ethnic Survey of Woonsocket, Rhode Island by Mrs. Bessie Bloom Wessel, Director, Study of Ethnic Factors in Com munity Life and Associate Professor of Sociology in Connecticut College. Her survey, the material for which she gathered while a student in the Social Science Department at Brown, aims to describe the ethnic and regional derivation of the population of Woonsocket, ethnic changes which are taking place in the community, and cultural situations which exist there today.
