Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Britain's Answer to the Nations: A Missionary Sermon, Preached in Saint Paul's Cathedral, on Sunday, May 3, 1857
It was one of my greatest pleasures on reaching England to hear of your Lordship's deserved appointment to the high and exalted station which you occupy, and afterwards to be present at your Lordship's Consecration, and to mingle my prayers with those of so many others on that solemn occasion. I could not but think at the time of the days of boyhood spent together, of intercourse so happily commenced at the outset of life, and friendship continued without inter ruption, save by distance from each other, for more than two-and-thirty years.
Nor could it be a small gratification to be invited, through the kindness of your Lordship.
