This groundbreaking study examines the link between the use of Braille contractions and the development of reading skills in young children. The author conducted a statistical analysis of the vocabularies of Braille users and non-Braille users, and found that the former group had a significantly larger vocabulary. Drawing on her years of experience as a teacher of blind children, the author provides practical insights into the ways in which Braille can be used to enhance reading comprehension and fluency.
