Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Books and Their Use: To Which Is Appended a List of Books for Students of the New Testament
Our Bible, as has been intimated already, is, in both its divisions, a miscellaneous aggregation of writings by difier ent authors, put together withoutmuch regard to the date or the circumstances of their origin. One of the tasks of Bib lical scholarship is to transform this somewhat promiscuous collection of materials into an'organism, to detect the mutual relations of the several parts of this body of literature, and the law of growth under which they originated.
