Quantification is the key to clinical investigation and practice. Blood pressure measurement is however, bedevilled by problems relating to blood pressure variability - virtually a moving target. This volume intends to raise awareness about these limitations, but also to alert readers to the opportunities for clinical practice and research offered by accurate blood pressure measurement. The importance of ambulatory blood pressure measurement to overcome problems associated with isolated pressure values is addressed. The accuracy of measuring devices is considered, particularly in relation to various clinical subgroups.
