Publisher's Synopsis
Led by the rebellious Captain Corrigan, Assault Troop form part of the 'Iron Division' during the 1944/45 European campaign. Although the men are relatively inexperienced in battle, Corrigan is determined to instil his own fighting spirit into them. Sent over to France before the main invasion force on D-Day, they have the task of breaking through the German beach defences, linking up with the paratroops and then carrying out a recce into Caen, Monty's primary D-1 objective. When the landing goes disastrously wrong, Corrigan sets out without permission to join the hard-pressed Red Devils and to proceed to Caen.
