Publisher's Synopsis
While ETH competes with BTC as the gas/oil of blockchain networks, BTC is accepted as a 'digital gold' that stores value despite its lack of digital utility. If you want to use a stablecoin whose value is pegged to the US dollar, there are several options, such as Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche. These blockchain networks are competing with each other to process transactions at cheaper rates. Bitcoin, on the other hand, has no competition when it comes to store of value. The Bitcoin blockchain is slow, relatively expensive to process, and challenging to change protocols, which has led to its fossilization, but it is still the best cryptocurrency.
Nevertheless, over the past two and a half years, BTC has recovered to 58.9% market share, while ETH's share has shamefully halved to 8%. Merge (September 15, 2022), Dencun (March 13, 2024), and Pectra (in progress April 2025) continue to innovate Ethereum, but the market is still friendly to Bitcoin. The Bitcoin blockchain has made little technical progress because its initial structure was frozen and is a so-called fossilized structure. Will the current trend of technological innovation not be reflected in the value of cryptocurrencies? It is not easy to find a direct answer to this question. The purpose of this book is to review the basics of Bitcoin and Ethereum and predict the potential for continued development through a basic understanding. This book also contains stories about what is happening at the forefront of Bitcoin and Ethereum. Will the value of Bitcoin, which has been solidified to the bone so that the elite can obtain more investment returns like Picasso's painting, continue to rise in the future? How long will the current situation in which technological innovation achievements are not reflected in the value of cryptocurrencies continue? When will a reversal occur in which technological innovation achievements are reflected in the market? Will the value of Ethereum recover to the level of September 2022 compared to Bitcoin? This book will help readers find answers to these questions.
