Publisher's Synopsis

Every year an army of volunteer naturalists and biologists observe and record changes in wildlife, sending on information for a time-series database being compiled by the Biological Records Centre (BRC). During the last 25 years the unprecedented and rapid changes in land use and environmental management that have occurred have ensured an increasing importance for the BRC. These papers trace the origins and history of the Biological Research Centre and review the effects of environmental changes on wildlife through case studies. Future applications and the effects of policies are also considered.
