Publisher's Synopsis
This volume summarizes data on over 2200 plant and animal species recorded so far from the Srebarna Biosphere Reserve, a well known protected territory. Its broad popularity is due to the exclusive biodiversity which this relatively small Danubian lake contains. The lake has been declared as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO, a wetland of international importance and as an ornithologically important area. The greatest public recognition of Srebarna is its inclusion in the Convention for World Cultural and Natural Heritage. In this way, Srebarna has been ranked among the most important cultural and natural monuments of our planet.
