This is an account of the most important properties of the anaerobic protozoa, with some of the major protozoal pathogens which infect humans being represented, for example, giardia lambia and entamoeba histolytica, which cause serious intestinal conditions and which are prevalent throughout the world. The book also covers the symbiotic ciliates of the rumen and the free living ciliates which inhabit anaerobic sediments.;Conclusions are drawn from considerations of similarities between those organisms which have adapted to very different environmental nices.
