Publisher's Synopsis
About the Book
Biochemical Engineering and Bioreactor Design is a versatile textbook that offers a comprehensive exploration of both the fundamentals and advanced aspects of biochemical engineering. It begins with foundational concepts (Chapter 1)
and advances to kinetic analysis and model development for microbial and enzyme-catalyzed processes (Chapter 2).
Chapter 3 focuses on the design and performance of industrial bioreactors, ranging from traditional stirred-tank reactors to advanced systems like UASB and DSFF bioreactors, using both mathematical modeling and software-based design techniques.
Chapter 4 presents sterilization methods, including thermal and filtration-based processes,
Chapter 5 showcases real-world applications in industries such as biodiesel and bioplastic production, biofertilizers, biomethane, bio-desulfurization, and bioleaching-with flow sheet diagrams for better clarity.
Packed with illustrative numerical examples, this book is an essential textbook for undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students, as well as a practical reference for researchers, consultants, and professionals in the field.
