Publisher's Synopsis
The Bible is not to be the subject of personal interpretations. The general rule is, "One interpretation, many applications." In each chapter, you will find a description of an interpretive principle, an example or two of how the principle has been violated, how to interpret the Bible more diligently in these examples, and then some exercises to practice the principle. The violations in the examples vary from simply sloppy scholarship (e.g. applying the "two or three" in Matt. 18:20 to a prayer meeting) to outright heresy (e.g. using I Cor. 14:33 to argue against the Trinity). These principles are not difficult to master or practice. Since God gave us His message to understand, it stands to reason that He would not make it too hard for us to study His message.
