It is a pretty difficult matter to write a history of such an organization as ours, composed of so many companies from different states, and there must be many things left out that would add interest to the work. Nevertheless, the writer most sincerely hopes that in its general character after making due allowance for possible errors, the history will be satisfactory, as it is as impartial and truthful as the historian could possibly make it.
