Publisher's Synopsis
Bella is a new puppy that the family decided to bring home. She is a mini dachshund. There are already two dogs in the family named Miley and Scooter. Scooter was the youngest until Bella got here and he was welcoming the idea of getting a younger sister. He did not want to be the youngest anymore. Meanwhile Miley was older and grouchy and she made sure the family know she did not want a puppy. Travis who was a boy int the family had a special talent of talking to dogs. He asked both Miley and Scooter if they would be okay with getting a new puppy. Scooter said that he was excited about it and Miley told him that she was too old to deal with a new puppy in the house. Travis relayed these messages to the rest of the family and the decision was made to go along with Scooter and not follow Miley's wishes. Miley was always picking on Scooter so now she would have someone else even smaller than Scooter to pick on. Bella did not know what she was getting herself into when she came home to meet Miley and Scooter. Miley was very grouchy and controlling about her food. Both Scooter and Bella would be unable to eat when Miley was on the lose so sometimes Miley had to be put in her cage. She did not like that at all. The family decides to introduce the puppies to each other at a neutral location. They had Bella in one car and took her to the park to wait on the other car which would have Miley and Scooter in it. Once they all arrived at the park the family let the dogs mingle. They turned Scooter and Bella lose but Miley had to be kept on her leash because she is the type of dog that will run away and never come home. Bella really seemed to hit it off with Scooter but her and Miley were not so sure about each other. Miley growled at her a lot and this scared Bella who was much smaller than Miley was. There were no problems at the park so the family decided to try and take the next step of bringing Bella home and letting her in the house with Miley and Scooter. Read the book to find out if Miley and Scooter accept or reject Bella from the family. Here is an excerpt from the book. "I have a special talent for talking to dogs and I had a nice long talk with Scooter and Miley before the family went to Illinois to get Bella and bring her home. I asked them what they would think if we got another puppy. Scooter was down for it but Miley said no way. She said that she was too old to handle another little puppy. Scooter had just gotten out of the puppy stage and finally Miley was able to get some peace and quiet sometimes. Scooter wanted a new puppy to play with. He told me that Miley was too old and too much of a grouch so she was not that much fun to play with. Scooter and Miley disagreed on if we wanted to get a new puppy but they ultimately did not have any say in the matter as the family made the final decision without considering what Scooter and Miley would have wanted."
