Dissimulation that is genuine As stated in the book's introduction: Since the first man opened his eyes and realized he was naked, he has tried to hide even from the sight of his Creator; thus, the diligence of hiding almost arose with the world itself, and at the first emergence of the defect, and in many, it passed into use by means of dissimulation; but considering the hatred that surrounds those who wear this veil badly, and that in the beautiful serene of life there should not be room for the implacable fog of lies which should be avoided in any case, I chose to depict the snake and the dove together, with the intention of sweetening the poison of one and guarding the candor of the other (as expressed in those divine words "Be wise like snakes and simple like doves", caring for everyone who commands or obeys the use of such a powerful industry amidst the contradictions that frequently meet...
