Publisher's Synopsis
The name believer is not for butter and bread people. Christianity is a call that goes with grace and mercy. You are a not a true Christian until you run the race to the end. The Christian life is described in a number of places as a race, but, unlike our human sporting races, we are not competing with others for a prize. It is an individual race which we all must strive to win. Listen to the way Paul describes it in 2 Tim.4.7-8 "I have fought a good fight. I have finished the work I was to do. I have kept the faith. 8 There is a crown which comes from being right with God. The Lord, the one who will judge, will give it to me on that great day when He comes again. I will not be the only one to receive a crown. All those who love to think of His coming and are looking for Him will receive one also." Notice what Paul is saying. "I have fought the good fight". The Good News has "I have done my best in the race". There is effort in the Christian life. We depend on what God has done for us in Christ our Savior. The Christian race begins when we receive Jesus as our Savior. It continues as we daily put our trust in him and step out to be his person and to do his will. We live day by day on the basis of his amazing grace. The Christian life is enabled and empowered by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. But the Spirit doesn't do it for us - we are the one who have to step out with confidence, trusting him as we run the race. Don't also forget, it is not all that run a race that win the prize but he that runs to the end. "You know that only one person gets a crown for being in a race even if many people run. You must run so you will win the crown. Everyone who runs in a race does many things so his body will be strong. He does it to get a crown that will soon be worth nothing, but we work for a crown that will last forever. In the same way, I run straight for the place at the end of the race. I fight to win. I do not beat the air. I keep working over my body. I make it obey me. I do this because I am afraid that after I have preached the Good News to others, I myself might be put aside." 1Corin. 9:24-27 This book is an exposition of the things you must do on daily basis in order for you to have successful ending. It's my prayer that Holy Spirit will teach you more as you read through.
