Publisher's Synopsis
Ari is a young, black girl with wild and naturally curly hair who is suddenly uprooted from her beloved hometown - Chicago - and moved across the country to hot and sunny Arizona, shortly after her tenth birthday. As she tries to embrace her new life, Ari begins to encounter challenges she never imagined she would have to deal with back home in Chicago.
No day is ever the same and Ari soon learns the move to Arizona would provide her with lessons in self-esteem, pride, tolerance and self-acceptance as a young, black girl in an extremely different environment.
