Publisher's Synopsis
Between 1979 and 1992 Oxfam funded an experiment in soil and water conservation in Burkina Faso. The innovative technique won international acclaim and many imitators, but the social impact of the project was less easy to assess. Oxfam commissioned a team of researchers to survey more than 1000 households. Their findings form the basis of this book, which should be of interest to agriculture and environment workers, community development workers, and academics concerned with agriculture and social development in arid climates.
