Larvae, however, often require decaying wood or rich organic soil to develop properly.

Beetle keeping is legal in many places, but regulations vary depending on the species and local wildlife protection laws. Some countries restrict the import, export, or breeding of certain exotic beetles, especially those considered endangered or invasive.
