Publisher's Synopsis
Thirty-five year old Nathan is a successful London businessman with an overly creative mind. Unfortunately, his great imagination produces anxious thoughts and imponderable situations, which turn everyday events into nerve-racking dramas. Although his behaviour is perceived as hilarious by others, work in the square mile is becoming too much. His daring plan to leave the city and confront his demons by travelling the world alone is, therefore, going to be especially tough. Six continents in a year is highly ambitious, given his abhorrence of flying, loathing of coaches, fear of seasickness and regular bouts of Hypochondriasis, not to mention his Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In an era of global terrorism and uncertainty, how will he cope with so many mental barriers and meet his objectives? He wants, for example, to discover a new species in the Amazon, learn Tai Chi in Hong Kong, bed a hot Brazilian girl and photograph dangerous animals (like koalas!). His only reliable friends are good food and a camera called Click, but there will be characters along the way that will change his thought processes forever. Based on a true story, Bedbugs is a humorous, emotional and deeply descriptive journey of comfort-zone pole vaults, and the tale of a man who will be bitten, quite literally, by travel.
