Publisher's Synopsis
Bat + Zoo: These two short stories have been deliberately juxtaposed in this short book in order to provide a ready contrast to the content of each other. In Bat, a father attempts to come to terms with the fact that his only child, Daisy, is growing up and is beginning to make her own way in the world. He struggles with his own changing role in her life. In the other story, Zoo, a man who has lost his family in a tragic accident, tries to make sense of the world by connecting with a woman he encounters at the zoo. They are drawn together by silence and from necessity. Both stories explore the difficult question of the definition of identity in the face of change.
