Publisher's Synopsis

Aziz + Cucher: Some People presents four newly commissioned video installations by the collaborative team of Anthony Aziz (*1961) and Sammy Cucher (*1958) that reflect the artists' complex relationship with the political conflict in the Middle East. The publication documents the exhibition, and an essay by Lisa D. Freiman places the works in the context of the artists' oeuvre and relates them to major developments in new media. Tami Katz-Freiman, an independent curator working in Israel who is intimately familiar with the conflict in the Middle East, explores their work from the angle of political art. In a question-and-answer session with the artists, Richard Meyer, on the other hand, focuses on queer art and cultural life in San Francisco in the late eighties and early nineties Exhibition schedule: Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis, April 13-October 21, 2012
