Scarlett Michaels finds herself hunkering down in a one-stoplight-town in the middle of North Carolina. The twenty-seven-year-old has uprooted her entire life, for the third time, with no real plan in mind...no real plan other than not being found this time. The skittish redhead is hell bent on staying hidden and keeping to herself, being a full-time author, gives her the advantage of only leaving the house when she wants to. Little does she know; she has chosen a town with a very skeptical officer who wants to know everything about her and the trouble she is bringing to his town.
Aiden Allen is the interim captain of police in Millsburry North Carolina. This twenty-eight-year-old is finding himself completely engrossed in uncovering everything there is to know about the new woman in his town who doesn't have so much as a parking ticket. He knows trouble when he smells it and this beautiful redhead reeks of it...his digging is hampered when he finally meets her, however, taken immediately by her attitude, looks, scent...hell, even the way she seems to know where he is at all times and is intent on staying away from him.
Gaining each other's trust is no easy feat. Especially with the demon in Scarlett's past and the evil in Aiden's present. The two of them have their work cutout for them, that's for sure but, with the help of Aiden's family-and the whole damn town-they might just be able to overcome their problems together.
This story is written in the POVs of both main characters and is not for anyone under the age of 18. Mature audiences are highly recommended for use of foul language, sexual scenes, and some rated cruelty scenes as well.
