Publisher's Synopsis
Encouraging energy conservation in the home is an important way to combat global warming by reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and also to conserve fossil fuels. To improve the effectiveness of measures aimed at reducing energy consumption a qualitative study among domestic users was carried out in 1990. The study is based mainly on group discussions and in-depth interviews with 103 people which support interesting hypotheses rather than statistically proven facts. The results provide an unusual insight into attitudes to domestic energy conservation, whether it be reactions to energy labelling, draughtstopping, tank insulation, environmental awareness, health issues, landlord behaviour or importance of cost.
