The maps in this atlas present age-standardized incident rates by sex for the approximately 220 counties of the former German Democratic Republic. The cancer sites mapped are those for which the numbers are large enough for the geographical variations to be meaningful.;In addition to the maps, tables give the data used in compiling the maps, comments are made on the possible relevant risk factors and on the patterns seen in the maps, and diagrams illustrate age-specific incidence rates, trends in incidence over 15 years and trends in survival rates over a 20-year period.
