Publisher's Synopsis
The Second International Symposium on Artificial Recharge of Ground Water was held in Orlando, Florida from July 17-22, 1995 and sponsored by the ASCE Special Standards Division, the ASCE Irrigation and Drainage Divison, and the East Central Division, the ASCE Irrigation and Drainage Division, and the East Central Division, Florida Section of ASCE. With the increasing world-wide interest in development of artificial recharge facilities, the need for international and interdisciplinary technology transfer has increased. The Symposium brought together an interdisciplinary group of engineers and scientists to share their experiences. This proceedings presents over 90 papers from authors representing over 20 different countries. The papers show that lengthy research and operational experiences have been completed on various types of artificial recharge, such as projects in Israel, the The Netherlands, and California. They also indicate an interest in funding of new recharge research projects as demonstrated by pilot recharge projects described. These were funded under the "High Plains States Ground Water Demonstration Program Act of 1983" (Public Law 98-434, September 28, 1984).;Other topics covered are: recharge pond design; deep well infiltration; aquifer storage; reclaimed wastewater; microfiltration; stormwater injection; and modeling.
