The immense sandals hung up in front of the cages containing the images are said to be placed there by persons desiring to become good walkers. Besides this temple the park contains a beautiful garden with picturesque pond, theatres, side shows, panoramas, etc. Shiba Park In this park we visited the famous Buddhist Temple, Zojoji. Near the temple there are tombs and shrines of several Shoguns. One of the shrines commonly called "Otomayo" is famous for its architectural beauty, in which it is said it is only equalled by the temples at Nikko, Japan. On the west side of the park there is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the Goddess Benton. It is noted for its cherry blossoms in the springtime. Near this shrine there is an artificial waterfall forming the centre of a beautiful landscape garden. A hill called Atogoyama is near the park and is in itself a little park, commanding a fine view of the Bay of Tokyo, and a portion of the city. Here is the famous Japanese restaurant where the Maple Dance is enacted. Kudan Park Kudan Park, located on a high hill looking down upon a large portion of the city, attracted GROUP IN FRONT OF THE TEMPLE OF KWANNON ASAKUSA PARK, TOKYO many of our boys, for here were gathered the trophies of the recent Russian-Japanese War. The Yasukimi-Jinsya, taking up a greater part of the ground, is a celebrated Shinto temple dedicated to the soldiers who have fallen in the late wars. Within the temple ground stands the Yushukan, or Museum of Arms.
