Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Archæological Dissertation on the Birth-Place of Saint Patrick
Of the different localities assigned, of course one only could have been the birth place of St. Patrick. As I was not present on that auspicious occasion, any more than Dr. Lanigan or Mr. Hoey, I must, in looking for it, be guided by the oldest and the best authorities. I cannot, like them, not only without, but clearly against all ancient authority, by the mere spelling of a word, solve so intricate a question; yet, such spelling may possibly assist me to the better under standing of the authors who have treated of the subject.
