The book incorporates archaeological findings, both from land and underwater explorations, carried out at Bet Dwarka by the Marine Archaeology Centre of the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa. The book begins with an introduction to the geological, geographic, archaeological and environmental background of the region and then devotes a chapter to chronology, dealing with cultural and scientific dates from the site. About Author : Dr A's Gaur, a Marine Archaeologist, working in National Institute of Oceanography, Goa since 1988, has participated in marine archaeological expeditions to Dwarka, Bet Dwarka, Bet Dwarka, Somnath, Porbander, Lakshadweep, Poompuhar, and Mahabalipuram. Shri Sundaresh, a Marine Archaeologists working in National Institute of Oceanography since 1989. He has carried out underwater investigations at Dwarka, Bet Dwarka and Somnath as a principal investigator and at Poompuhar as a co-investigator. Shri K H Vora, a marine Geologist, joined the National Institute of Oceanography in 1977. Initially, part of team, which carried out offshore engineering surveys using acoustical sensors; he subsequently also surveyed western shelf of India, mainly to study marine geomorphology and paleao-oceanography.
