Aquaculture (aquafarming) is the cultivation of aquatic organisms in controlled aquatic environments for any commercial, recreational or public purpose and the breeding, rearing, and harvesting of fish, shellfish, plants, algae, and other organisms in all types of water environments including ponds, rivers, lakes, the ocean and man-made "closed" systems on land. Olericulture is the science of vegetable growing, production, storage, processing and marketing of vegetables, includes maintenance and care of vegetable crops production. Integrated fish farming systems is the production, integrated management and comprehensive use of aquaculture, agriculture and livestock, with an emphasis on aquaculture. The most impressive aspect of aquaculture is the integration of fish farming with livestock production and farming of agricultural crops, including vegetable farming. Supplemental feeding should be carried out properly coupled with a good understanding of the nutrient content of the various feed ingredients.
