Publisher's Synopsis
This volume, the latest in a series by the German Archaeological Institute that discusses examples of Greek sculpture, comprises four well-illustrated cases studies. These are: the discovery and iconography of the Archaic kore and kuros found at Demos Murrihinous; the Apollo Saurokotonos of Praxiteles, incorporating an catalogue of the numerous copies; the colossal head of Herakles from Sparta; the relief from Epidauros and now held in the National Museum of Athens. All of the discussed artworks are extensively illustrated at the end of the volume.
