Publisher's Synopsis
This, the second volume in the series, compares the efficacy of and indications for the clinical and field use of various antidotes for cyanide poisoning. These include oxygen; sodium thiosulphate; amyl nitrate; 4-dimethylaminophenol; hydroxocobalamine; and dicobalt edetate. The volume also assesses agents used to treat methaemoglobemia. This important new series arises from a coordinated programme of the International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS) (ILO/UNEP/WHO) and the Commission of the European Communities (CEC) to evaluate the efficacy of and indications for clinical and field use of these antidotes and other agents to treat poisoning.
