The five opening papers in the 2008 edition of the annual series explore the role of public health professionals in responding to climate change, outlining different strategies to reduce emissions from road vehicles, assess climate change interventions, mitigate deaths from heat waves, and address climate change at the local and state level. The remaining 20 papers review agricultural antimicrobial drug use, the epidemiology of common mental disorders, aflatoxin-induced carcinogenesis, the effectiveness of mass communications, work site health-promotion programs, and breast cancer screening across cultures.
