Financially 1957 exceeded our highest expectations. Despite a costly fire, over remained from the year's operations to be added to the town's surplus. Revenue from timber yield taxes exceeded estimates, the old library building at East Andover was converted into cash, poor relief remained low, and the balance of total expenditures was held below total appropriations.
