Dear s - I have the honor of presenting to you as is required by law the' twenty-eighth annual report of the transactions (if the Wis consin State Horticultural Society, embracing the papers read and the discussions on the same at our yearly meetings, one of which was held in the city of Madison in February, 1898, and the other in the city of Appleton in J une, 1898. We have published the reports of the local societies in difiereut parts of the state, which show an increasing in tercet in horticulture. We also show the amount of money received from the state and the manner the same has been disbursed during the year. We have made further additions to our trial orchard, so that at the present time we are occupying about ten acres. It seems to be very promising of good results. The Omaha exposition is at tracting our people, and if the fruit crap is as good this season as the prospect now is, I think we can make a very creditable showing of fruits raised in our state.
