We are glad to report a good town financial standing at the end of 1953. While the total appropriated was about $500 more than for 1952, actual expenditures were lower than in the previous year. The amounts spent for town government, public health, highways and poor relief, all were less than in 1952; leaving an unexpended appropriation balance of to compare with an overdraft of at the end of the year before.
As revenue outside of taxes held up well and exceed ed estimates, the town has gained an additional in surplus of assets over liabilities, for a total of at the year's end.
