Excerpt from Annual Report of the Secretary of State, to the Governor of the State of Ohio, for the Year 1888
The corporation business of the office has fallen off from that of the previous year, both in quantity, that is in the number of articles of incor poration filed, and in quality, that is in the size of the corporations formed. The number of articles of incorporation filed has been as compared with in 1887. The total capital stock of these corporations wine but compared with total capital of the cor potations created in 1887. The decrease in the number of articles of in corporation filed has been less than in the total amount of capital. This indicates that the corporations formed during the year have been mostly corporations with asmall capital stock. The number of manufacturing corporations formed is nominally incrmd, although the capital stock.
